emu oil topically on fat pad successfully stopped redness, inflammation, brought down swelling .But emu oil is supposed to promote collagen production in skin. so will emu oil promote arthrofibrosis? the inflammation drives arthrofibrosis,so it's important to stop it and emu oil worked miracles that way...but the advertisements for emu oil talk about it promoting collagen production in skin. So is it best to stop emu oil even tho inflammation returns?

Hi Mike,
There isn't any good research about the effects of emu oil on fibrosis, but as you noticed, there are papers about the anti-inflammatory effects. There are some small animal studies that suggest that the application of emu oil soon after a skin wound promotes healthy healing, but it's impossible to say if that's a good thing, or a bad thing, for established fibrosis.
My feeling is that the positive effects you experienced of a reduction in inflammation in the Hoffas fat pad should help your fat pad recover, since it should reduce swelling. A reduction in swelling should reduce the pinching in the joint as you move around, and we know that fat pad pinching is a powerful driver of arthrofibrosis and of pain.
I hope that helps.
