I’m 29, I have Arthrofibrosis. Pretty severe, been on crutches for 3 years. I had surgery at Mayo Clinic about 7-8 months ago. Was pretty successful, my extension was max 30 degrees before. Have mostly full extension now but still struggling to bear weight and have pretty bad arthritis through all this. I’m diligent with therapy, sometimes I do too much and have a setback for 2-4 weeks or so. The best I got was last month on an alter g treadmill bearing 70-80% weight for 5-8 minutes. Haven’t been able to do much for the last couple weeks after overdoing it. I’m for sure going to do therapy for the rest of the year and do my best but I’m thinking after that about considering amputation and getting to work with a prosthetic leg. I’m looking for guidance from people who have been through something similar. I’m at peace with my decision. My doctors at Mayo Clinic said further surgery may not do much more for me with how advanced my condition was when I got to them. I need to get off these crutches after this year one way or another. If anybody has experience that can help me out, please share. Thank you

Hi,
I'm so sorry about your knee. I know somebody else who is currently investigating amputation because of arthrofibrosis post TKR, she has looked into several institutes who do osseointegration in California. If you would like me to put you in touch with her, please contact me on the Contact page.
All the best,
Kayley
